                       attending this Transition Class only

For our youngest students, this cozy smaller class provides a gentle transition for the child, ready to step out into the world, who is no longer a toddler, but for whom the larger preschool class and environment might be overwhelming. For these  younger students, this class offers a secure circle of first time friends, in a home and garden environment where the younger preschooler’s natural sense of order and beauty, concentration, coordination, and independence unfold under the nurturing guidance of an experienced Montessori teacher and an assistant. Practical Life, Sensorial activities, music, and movement are the appropriate emphases at this age level, but this class brings to the children any learning material from which they are ready to benefit. Our few older students from the three morning class round out our desirable mixed age grouping. In this way we are able to offer our younger children the older mentor provided by the  more experienced student.  For the first half of the year the youngest students remain a cozy group of their own with their two teachers. Then around January, the two Friday groups begin to blend, making this truly a transitional class for the youngest, newest students.

For Ages 3.0 – 6 years in Sept

concurrently enrolled in the Three Morning Pre-primary Class

This class also offers a forth and fifth morning program for a few of our children who are old enough and developmentally ready for our Three Morning Class. These children will have access to the more advanced learning materials for which they have demonstrated interest and other kinds of readiness. Older students experience leadership, develop confidence and reinforce their own learning through interaction with our youngest students on these two mornings.
